More Americans than Israelis favor Iran strike

JERUSALEM (JWN and agencies)—Two recent polls indicate that about a third more Americans support a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities than do Israelis.

According to a Knesset Channel poll to be released Thursday, 43 percent of Israelis believe the IDF should attack Iranian nuclear facilities if diplomacy fails to halt Iran’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons.

However, a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday found that 62% of Americans would back an Israeli strike to take out Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

The poll also found that 56% of Americans would support US military action against Iran, even if it led to higher gas prices. Just 39% were opposed.
