Missile-firing Israeli drone can reach Iran

TEL AVIV (JWN) — The Heron TP, Israel’s largest unmanned aerial vehicle, will be operational by the end of the year, the IDF Spokesman announced. The UAV can remain airborne for 45 hours carrying 1,000 kilograms of armaments and can reach Iran.

Developed by Israel Aerospace Industries, the Heron has a wingspan of 26 meters–the same as a Boeing 737. It is designed for a variety of missions, including launching missiles.

France recently concluded a $500 million, multi-year contract to purchase the Heron TP, and other countries are expected to follow suit with upgrades to their UAV capabilities. The Israel Air Force deploys UAVs over Lebanon, the Egyptian border, the Gaza Strip, and along the country’s coastline.
