US Secretary of State Blinken meets with Netanyahu in Israel

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured activists gathered outside his Tel Aviv hotel that the United States is committed to securing the release of all hostages held in Gaza.

“Bringing your loved ones home is our top priority, and we will not rest until every individual – regardless of age, gender, or background – is reunited with their families,” Blinken said as he addressed demonstrators from behind a steel barricade fence, where they waved Israeli and American flags.

Blinken emphasized that there is a robust proposal on the table, urging Hamas to accept it and facilitate the hostages’ release. “We are determined to see this through until each and every one of you is reunited with your loved ones,” he added.

“Please remain steadfast and hopeful. We stand with you every step of the way until this is resolved,” Blinken urged.

Blinken’s visit to Israel follows stops in Saudi Arabia and Jordan as part of efforts to finalize a hostage deal and address humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza. During his meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Blinken reiterated the need for Hamas to act.

He also stressed the importance of aiding civilians in Gaza affected by the conflict. “While we work tirelessly to secure a ceasefire and bring the hostages home, we must also focus on providing essential assistance to the people of Gaza – including food, medicine, water, and shelter,” Blinken emphasized.

In addition to meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Blinken is scheduled to hold discussions with Minister-without-portfolio Benny Gantz and visit the port in Ashdod, where Gaza-bound cargo is unloaded.
