Six people were injured in a stabbing attack in Hadera, according to police reports Wednesday morning. The assailant was later neutralized.
Paramedics treated two men, approximately 30 and 50 years old, who were in serious condition, along with a 70-year-old man who suffered moderate injuries. All three were taken to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera.
At the medical center, four of the injured underwent treatment in the operating room. One was in critical condition, one was severely wounded, and two were in moderate condition. Additionally, two more individuals with moderate injuries were hospitalized for further care. Another person sought treatment for anxiety related to the incident.
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that two additional individuals were also moderately injured in Hadera and were receiving medical care. The scene was chaotic, with emergency responders working rapidly to assess and treat the victims amidst ongoing concerns for public safety.
According to police, the assailant struck in four separate locations, injuring two people in the first site, one in the second, two in the third, and a sixth victim in another area before police apprehended him. Witnesses reported scenes of panic as people fled the area during the attacks.
MDA paramedic Shaked Hajaj described arriving at the scene where a seriously injured person had multiple stab wounds and was semi-conscious. After providing lifesaving treatment, the team evacuated him to the hospital and returned to assist other victims. Eyewitness accounts indicated that bystanders attempted to intervene during the attack, showcasing a community effort to help those in danger.
The attacker initially fled on a scooter, prompting a police chase. Following extensive searches, law enforcement was able to neutralize him. Officers set up roadblocks and conducted a thorough search of the area to ensure no further threats remained.
Initially, police suspected the incident might not be terror-related, but later confirmed it as such. The assailant, Ahmad Jabarin, was identified as a 36-year-old Israeli citizen from Umm al-Fahm, according to Israeli state broadcaster KAN. Authorities are investigating the motivations behind the attack and have increased security measures in the area in response to the violence.
