Prime Minister Netanyahu meets with new soldiers at IDF base

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the IDF Induction Base at Tel Hashomer Tuesday, engaging with recruits destined for pivotal roles at crossings and as field observers across various sectors.

During the visit, Netanyahu received a comprehensive briefing on enlistment statistics against the backdrop of ongoing conflicts. He lauded the recruits for their remarkable dedication to serve in the IDF, particularly in combat roles, noting their evident motivation.

“The most prominent thing that we have seen in the six months since the outbreak of the war is the immense increase in the motivation of the young people, the desire to enlist, defend and fight, both young men and young women,” the prime minister told the recruits.

“We have never seen such a thing. This attests to the power of the life in our people. I think that you deserve all praise as well as the understanding that you are – in effect – doing something of historic significance,” he added.

Sharing a meal with the recruits, Netanyahu took the opportunity to glean insights into their induction process experiences, fostering a direct connection with those entering military service.

In his address to the recruits, Netanyahu underscored the profound significance of their commitment, emphasizing the crucial role of defense in preserving the nation’s existence. He applauded the surge in enlistment motivation among the youth, acknowledging their pivotal contribution to national security endeavors.

Regarding the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s resolute stance on neutralizing Hamas’s military capabilities. He outlined three primary objectives: securing the safe return of hostages, the dismantling of Hamas, and ensuring Gaza does not pose future threats to Israel’s security.

Netanyahu further contextualized the conflict within a broader geopolitical framework, framing it as part of a broader struggle against Iran’s regional influence.

Accompanying Netanyahu on his visit were key figures including his Chief-of-Staff, Military Secretary, the Head of the IDF Personnel Branch, the commander of the Border Defense School, and other senior IDF officers.
