Netanyahu speaks out after anti-Israel demonstrations at US colleges

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement expressing deep concern over the surge of antisemitism on American college campuses.

He described the situation as “horrific,” highlighting the takeover of leading universities by antisemitic mobs advocating for the annihilation of Israel. Netanyahu lamented the attacks on Jewish students and faculty, drawing parallels to the events in German universities during the 1930s.

Netanyahu criticized the response of several university presidents, labeling it as “shameful.” While acknowledging some officials’ differing responses, he stressed the urgency for more comprehensive action to address the issue.

Netanyahu emphasized that the antisemitic sentiment extends beyond mere opposition to Israel, noting the calls for “death to America” alongside “death to Israel” and “death to the Jews.” He warned that such rhetoric indicates a broader antisemitic surge with far-reaching consequences.

The Prime Minister highlighted the alarming rise of antisemitism across America and Western societies, attributing it to Israel’s efforts to defend itself against genocidal terrorists who exploit civilian populations. Despite Israel being falsely accused of atrocities, Netanyahu underscored the historical pattern of antisemitic attacks being preceded by vilification and slander against the Jewish people.

“Now, what is important now is for all of us, all of us who are interested and cherish our values and our civilization, to stand up together and to say enough is enough,” the Prime Minister stated. Jews and non-Jews alike, who are concerned with our common future and our common values to do one thing: Stand up, speak up, be counted. Stop antisemitism now.”

Netanyahu called on individuals of all backgrounds to unite in standing against antisemitism, emphasizing its significance as a precursor to larger conflicts. He urged both Jews and non-Jews to speak out and take a stand against antisemitism, describing it as a critical issue that threatens shared values and civilization.
