Netanyahu meets with government as war hits 6-month mark

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the government meeting, marking six months of war with a blend of achievements and solemnity. He highlighted successes, including the elimination of 19 of Hamas’s 24 battalions and the dismantling of critical terrorist infrastructure.

Netanyahu also did not shy away from acknowledging the heavy toll, mourning the loss of four soldiers in Khan Yunis. Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s unwavering stance on hostage return, emphasizing that no ceasefire would be entertained without it.

“Whoever harms us or plans to harm us – we will harm them. We are carrying out this idea in practice, all the time, including recently, near and far, in our immediate surroundings and further afield. Israel is prepared – defensively and offensively – for any attempt to attack us, from anywhere,” the prime minister stated.

He criticized Hamas for obstructing peace with unreasonable demands and called for international pressure to be directed towards the terrorist group. Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s resolve for total victory, aiming to eradicate Hamas and ensure Gaza poses no threat.

Concerning ongoing attacks by Iranian proxies, Netanyahu affirmed Israel’s defensive and offensive readiness to retaliate from any corner. Despite internal challenges, he urged unity, cautioning against divisive elements seeking to exploit the situation. Netanyahu emphasized the importance of collective resolve in overcoming external threats, urging citizens to stand united.
