Netanyahu, Israeli leaders congratulate Trump on comeback presidential victory

Israeli lawmakers took to social media on Wednesday to congratulate Donald Trump following his election victory, with many highlighting the significance of the U.S.-Israel relationship and expressing hope for further strengthening ties under his leadership.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly reached out to the President-elect, calling Trump’s return to the White House “history’s greatest comeback.”

Netanyahu emphasized that the victory marked a fresh start for both America and Israel, reaffirming the deep bond between the two nations. He described the outcome as “a huge victory” and celebrated the prospect of a new chapter in the alliance.

Incoming Defense Minister Israel Katz also expressed strong support, framing Trump’s election as an opportunity to reinforce the U.S.-Israel partnership. He vowed to work toward securing the release of hostages and combating the threat posed by Iran, which both Israel and the U.S. consider a destabilizing force in the region.

Finance Minister and leader of the Religious Zionist Party, Bezalel Smotrich, kept his message brief but pointed: “God bless Israel, God bless America,” signaling the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog hailed Trump as “a true and dear friend of Israel,” noting his contributions to peace and regional cooperation during his previous presidency. Herzog expressed optimism about working with Trump to strengthen the “ironclad bond” between the two nations and to advance shared values of democracy and security in the Middle East.

Innovation, Science, and Technology Minister Gila Gamliel congratulated the President-elect as well, stressing that the U.S.-Israel alliance remains a strategic asset for both nations. She reiterated Israel’s commitment to deepening that partnership under Trump’s leadership, particularly in areas of innovation, security, and defense.

Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen shared his congratulations, pointing to the historic nature of the moment. He expressed confidence that Trump’s leadership would restore stability to the region and help bring greater prosperity to both countries. Cohen also stressed that the continuation and expansion of the Abraham Accords.
