Israeli government approves support package for survivors of October 7 music festival attacks

The Israeli government greenlit a targeted support package to aid survivors of the festivals held in southern regions during the October 7 tragedy.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Welfare and Social Affairs Minister Yaakov Margi spearheaded the decision, supported by a collaborative effort across various governmental departments, including the Prime Minister’s Office, Welfare and Social Affairs Ministry, and Health Ministry.

This comprehensive initiative, which includes an additional allocation of NIS 20 million, encompasses a spectrum of support measures, including emotional assistance, mental health support, commemorative activities, employment assistance, and the establishment of group therapy spaces.

PMO Director General Yossi Shelley underscored the importance of this milestone in bolstering support for festival survivors, emphasizing continued commitment to assisting them alongside the Welfare and Social Affairs Ministry.

Welfare and Social Affairs Ministry Director General Yinon Aaroni, who led the committee, emphasized the aim of providing a unified government response to address the unique needs of festival survivors dispersed throughout the country. The approved decision marks a crucial step toward empowering survivors in rebuilding their lives and fostering community resilience with robust government backing.
