In a significant diplomatic event, the Embassy of Papua New Guinea was officially dedicated in Jerusalem, Israel.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion, and a delegation of senior ministers from Papua New Guinea who traveled specifically for this occasion.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed his appreciation for the move and emphasized the deep historical and cultural significance of Jerusalem to Israel. He noted that the city has been the capital of Israel for thousands of years, the birthplace of many of its core values and teachings, and a hub of its heritage and traditions.

He commended Papua New Guinea as the first Asian-Pacific country to establish an embassy in Jerusalem, a decision that aligns with the shared commitment to these eternal values.

Minister Cohen reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ dedication to the goal of having 100 embassies in Israel and expanding representations in Jerusalem, further promoting the country’s innovations, economic prowess, and scientific capabilities to the world.

During his visit to Israel, Prime Minister James Marape engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Foreign Affairs Eli Cohen.
