Drones strike American base in Syria

Syrian drone strikes exploded near an American base within the country from a militia attack from Maghawir al-Thawra (Commandos of the Revolution).

No one was harmed and the location was not damaged, according to the report.

A statement from the Combined Joint Task Force called Operation Inherent Resolve claimed that troops repelled all but one of the drones.

The operation against the remaining ISIS-related forces continues to be a concern in the region, according to the statement. The attacks highlighted the “significant efforts by our Partner Forces to maintain the lasting defeat of ISIS,” Major General John Brennan, the commander of Combined Joint Task Force, said.

“Such attacks put the lives of innocent Syrian civilians at risk and undermine the significant efforts by our Partner Forces to maintain the lasting defeat of ISIS,” he added. “Coalition personnel retain the right to self-defense, and we will take appropriate measures to protect our forces.”

In addition to U.S. military efforts to maintain peace in Syria and thwart the Islamic State movement, Israel has reportedly conducted airstrikes over the past year on targeted locations to stop efforts against the nation.

Lebanon’s foreign ministry also recently complained that Israel is using its air space to conduct some of its strikes in Syria. The ministry said it plans to complain to the U.N. Security Council regarding the issue.

A recent alleged Israeli airstrike on Sunday in Syria resulted in three deaths and three injured in Tartus near Damascus.

“Around 8:50p.m. the Israeli enemy conducted an aerial attack by means of barrages of missiles from the direction of Beirut – missiles which hit a number of targets near Damascus,” Syrian military reported, though no confirmation has been made.

“At the same time, an attack was carried out from the direction of the sea, which hit a number of targets in the southern Tartus Governate, and aerial defense systems stopped the missiles and brought some of them down. This aggression caused three soldiers to be killed, another three to be injured, and there is damage to property,” it added.
