A terrorist was neutralized following a stabbing attack at Herod’s Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem on Tuesday afternoon.
According to initial reports from Magen David Adom (MDA), an 18-year-old woman in critical condition and a 30-year-old man have been hospitalized for treatment of their wounds.
Israeli media reports identify the attacker as 34-year-old Turkish citizen Hasan Skalanan, who entered Israel from Jordan through the Allenby Bridge on Monday.
“We were quickly on the scene and found an 18-year-old conscious woman with a stab wound to her upper body. We treated the injury and stopped the bleeding, evacuating her in an MDA Mobile Intensive Care Unit to the hospital in serious condition,” the MDA medical unit stated.
“MDA EMTs and paramedics are treating a 30-year-old male victim with stab wounds,” added an MDA spokesperson. According to the Israel Police, the stabbing attempt involved an officer who is currently in moderate condition.
“The terrorist involved in the stabbing was neutralized after police officers in the area shot him. Large police forces have arrived at the scene,” stated the Israel Police.
“The injured individual was a man in his 30s in moderate condition. After providing initial treatment at the scene, he was transported to the hospital while conscious and in stable condition,” reported United Hatzalah volunteer EMTs Yechiel Stern and Yosef Chaim Gabai.
